10 INTERESTING THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT WINDOWS 10

Microsoft has finally revealed to publish an all new sensational operating system. Built for multipurpose use and to suit almost all subscribers of Microsoft. I am running the Windows 10 Technical Preview and this list is derived therefrom, which this is subject to change as it is a Build version EC Build 9879.

1. START MENU
Microsoft has blended the Windows 7 traditional start menu with the Modern Windows 8.1 Tile menu. This enhance the interaction of user comfortability to quickly finding the right stuff in its rightful place. Although the Win7 part of the Menu is congested with every little app installed on the machine, the Search box featured on the start quickly finds the desired search within seconds. The customizable Win8.1 tile menu can be easily modified using the techniques currently used on the existing OS. It is awesome.

2. APPs SWITCH
Windows 8 presented the smart view that seemingly deprived users the freedom with their computers. The programming in Win8 had a quick app switch on the left of the touch pad of a laptop, displaying on the left end of the screen, which was so sensitive it would keep switching apps unnecessarily. Win10 disabled it and you can now own the touch pad without worry. The App switch is now presented as a Task View Button that can be pinned on the Taskbar like Programs and Apps. You now change tasks when you want to, not by mistake or when the computer wants. The Switch Method is even fullscreen and so amazing.

3. Folders and Icons
Windows finally came up with a charming and attractive icon / folder view. The indigenous folders have been changed to a modern transformation of the windows Vista folders. It is sexy and 3D. The folders are flexible, as you change the display size, they change their layout and open as they grow bigger showing a summary of its contents. It also has a variation of colors and looks brighter in its main yellow orange color. The Microsoft team also presented a new Desktop Icon that resembles 2 running apps on a blue background. Although it looks black and white if its viewed as small icon, the real colors are clearly visible if viewed as extra large icon. The file explorer Icon charms on the taskbar. The start button looks the same as the one we've had on the 8.1 version of Windows.

4. NOTIFICATION AREA
We still will have the traditional notification area with a few changes. Once you click the “Show Hidden Icons” arrow, you will have the icon tray opening, as usual, only this time it has shade around it as blur attracting the user. The icons are also modified. The battery icon for instance is landscape and smaller.

5. PROGRAMS COMPATIBILITY
Users need not to worry about migrating to Windows 10 and buying new software versions to suit it. Microsoft has always proven itself as being user friendly. Nearly all programs running on Windows 7 and 8 will probably run on Windows 10. The integration of the .Net framework packages makes it ideal to continue your apps that you've previously had and loved. It also comes with a few Primary preinstalled drivers for known brand PC's. Very convenient.

6. PRE-INSTALLED APPS
Like Win8, win 10 will install all the apps that windows 8 had preinstalled that included the Weather, Sports, News, Money etc. If you had use of those apps, need not to worry they are not discontinued, yet. The Store is also featured. Microsoft has bigger plans for the store, stay put to get an update for it. Also Internet Explorer comes in. But note that Firefox and Chrome are still compatible with Win10.

7. SECURITY
Windows has always been a platform for dwelling viruses. Windows 10 is built in with Windows Defender as Windows 8, 8.1. I personally trust and use Defender over brand anti-viruses available and I have never encountered any attacks. That is to say Defender strengthens the security of Microsoft Windows and keeps you as a user worry less. You will still be able to install any anti-virus of choice, except that once another anti-virus is installed, WD automatically disables.

8. SHUTDOWN
It looks like Hibernate lovers should set it up. Windows restored the easy to Shutdown, Signout and Restart. Lock and switch user are still available at Ctrl+Alt+Del. You can now shut down the PC by simply clicking start and click the power icon on the top of the Menu. Option 2 is to right click the start and click the second bottom option and click appropriate option from list. All the other traditional options are still working, like Alt+F4.

9. SPEED
Every user wants speed when using their PC. Well you don't only get the luxury when using Windows 10, you get a speed performance that allows you to multi task and enjoy finishing tasks and projects in time. I have realized that the OS reads priority of used programs and distribute RAM and CPU usage to suit you and prevent from crashing. Let's just settle to agree on a few Blue screens, otherwise on none. The Win10 is thought to be a Tesla, that says it all.

10. RATING
We would have blamed he Microsoft team for diverging from the chronological counting and having skipped Windows9. Yet this is the future. I am giving Win10 a 4 of 5 score rating. My final rate will be viewed once I have used the completed version.

Overall, Prepare yourselves for this OS. You can also download the Technical Preview here on the Microsoft official site.
